About Tree Two One

Climbing arborists who learned the trade on the big contracts.

Anthony started Tree Two One in November 2014. Before that we spent years working for some of the biggest arboriculture firms in the UK, including Amey, Glendale (clearing live power lines for Western Power Distribution), Cormac and Cornwall Council.

That's where our well-rounded base of experience comes from. Since then we've grown on the back of recommendation and a long list of pleased customers.

After a little time away, Tree Two One is back. We're out and about again across North Cornwall, looking forward to working with familiar faces again and meeting new ones.

What we do

All aspects of tree care, from one deadwood branch to a whole stand of conifers.

Don't see what you need? Give Anthony a ring on 07981 347747 and ask.

  1. 01

    Tree removal

Two ways to bring a tree down safely. Straight felling, where there's room for it to fall, or dismantling, where our climbers go up on rope and harness and take it down in controlled sections. In tight spots we rig the tree with high-strain ropes, pulley blocks and friction devices so every piece is lowered slowly.

  2. 02

    Crown reduction

Some trees outgrow their spot. We prune the branches back to suitable growth points, leaving the crown in a similar or more practical shape while keeping the tree.

  3. 03

    Crown thinning

Removing a percentage of the interior branches to reduce sail volume, so the tree is less likely to be blown over, or to let more light through and open up a view.

  4. 04

    Crown lifting

Taking off the lower branches, pruned directly to the stem to an agreed height, to clear the way for people, vehicles and drives. One tree or a whole row.

  5. 05

    Deadwood removal

Hanging deadwood is often known as a ‘widow maker’. Dead branches turn brittle and can break off in the wind, so we take them out before they come down on someone or something.

  6. 06

    Hedge work

All types of hedge work, from a gentle prune and reshape of a conifer hedge to a Cornish hedgerow that has grown out of control. We can also lay certain types of hedgerow trees and shrubs.

  7. 07

    Stump grinding

Stump grinding with the Ditch Witch SK150, a powerful multi-terrain machine.

  8. 08

    Green waste removal

Had a big garden tidy? We'll chip your branch and log waste on site, a more cost effective option than hiring a skip. We can chip waste up to 6 inches in diameter, and it must be purely wood, branches or coniferous wood.

  9. 09

    Saw mill service

Want to keep the timber from your tree? We can mill it. An Alaskan saw mill for timber under 2½ feet across, and a Peterson mobile saw mill for bigger stems.

  10. 10

    Ground care

Back out and about with general ground care too. Big or small, we're happy to take a look.

Working near power lines?

We've worked for Western Power Distribution clearing live lines, so trees tangled up with overhead cables don't put us off.

Tree down or a limb hanging?

We come out as a two-man team for fallen trees and hanging limbs. Tell us what's happened so we can bring the right kit.

Our kit

The right machine for awkward ground, and nothing wasted.

All arisings are responsibly recycled. Our wood chip goes to local farms and garden centres as cattle bedding or mulch for flower beds, and good timber can be milled for you to keep.

I was really pleased with the work , I’d phoned a few local firms which just ignored my calls. I then phoned Tree Two One and Anthony came out that same day. The first job was three huge conifers about 40/50 feet behind the house which only had the option of falling one way, the team took it in their stride with no fuss and just got on with it. This was in November and already now in January I can hardly see where they went back and forth with the small tracked machine clearing up. Then they came back again to do two more huge conifers and an Ash tree that were also in quite a tricky position but again they made it all look easy and leave the site tidy. I would highly recommend them if you want a reliable firm who are very professional, I don’t think any job would be too big for them and will be using them again.

Anthony and his team are fantastic. They tackled a very tricky and enormous old ash tree with care and professionalism, including having to work around a maze of power lines. Really friendly and careful workers, conscientious and tidy, a pleasure to deal with from start to finish. A very reasonable quote too. Tree Two One are a breath of fresh air in a world where often people don't even bother to get back to you!

I have used Tree Two One twice in the past year, once to fell 8 large softwood trees and recently to fell 7 gigantic beech trees in an awkward location adjacent to a road. The service provided was exceptional both times. Reliable, very cost effective and all work was carried out professionally. The site was left completely cleared, just as it should be. If you are looking for a tree surgeon to lop or fell trees for you then don't waste your time looking any further. I cannot recommend highly enough.

I first met Anthony in the autumn of 2014 when he was working for another contractor. He and his pal Tom were working on neighbouring land. They worked very hard, with good spirits, felling and cutting up a large tree, being extremely careful not to damage my cottage! They thoroughly cleaned up the area when they had finished. I was so impressed I wrote to their employers telling them so. When Ant started his own business Trees Two One, soon after, I asked him to carrying out extensive tree work, felling and lopping trees, in our two and a half acre garden. The boys carried out the work in an industrious, professional manner. Nothing was too much trouble and it was a pleasure to have them working here. I shall have no hesitation in asking them to return to carry out further extensive and sometimes difficult work. David Alcock Pentewan
